Here are some of the commonly asked questions around our building:
- Do I need to provide tables and chairs for my event?
- Not at all! The Civic Center provides the tables and chairs.
- Am I responsible for setting up my event?
- No, the event staff will set up your event according to the floor plan you provide.
- Am I limited on how I can decorate?
- You are only limited by your imagination! =) However, the Civic Center does ask that you refrain from using glitter or confetti. No tape is allowed on the walls, but Command Strips™ work as a great substitute! You can hang lightweight fixtures from our false ceiling using fishing wire.
- Do I need to bring any extension cords?
- The Civic Center has extension cords you may borrow. The cost of any items not returned to the Civic Center will result in forfeiture of your damage deposit.
- What do I do when my event is over?
- Simply remove any personal items brought in for your event, dispose of your garbage, and we take care of the rest!
- Do I have to hire a caterer or am I allowed to bring in my own food?
- You can cater your own event or if you are looking to hire a caterer, we are happy provide you with the contact information of companies we often work with.
- Do you have an exclusive list for caterers, DJ’s, decorators, or photographers?
- At the Civic Center, we believe that you should have a choice when planning your event. We are happy to make recommendations in each of these areas as we have worked with some of the finest in Southern Illinois.
- What are your rules pertaining to alcoholic beverages?
- All alcohol must be purchased through the Civic Center. NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED IN THE CIVIC CENTER! NO EXCEPTIONS! The Civic Center offers a full service bar and will work with you to make your event a success.
- If I have a presentation to give at a business meeting, do I need to buy my own projector?
- We have two top of the line projectors for rent. The projector screens are also available.
- I have a large meeting and may need a microphone, will you provide one?
- We have wireless microphones, a podium, which has its own sound system built in, available to use.
- I would like to advertise my next event, can you help with that?
- We would be happy to promote your event on our social media sites as well as feature your event on our marquee.
